Welcome to Workshop Lamps!Workshop Lamps is a project developed by students and teachers at the Workshop School. Advisory 215 had a lot of fun working on this project in the spring of 2015, and we hope that other students and teachers will be able to do this project in the future. This website gives an overview of the two major stages of the project as well as lots of photos of student work. In the first two week of this project, we learned about electricity. In the last three weeks, we used the design process to create custom lamps in our school's workshop. You can see how individual projects developed over time by checking out the galleries of student work.

Student Voices
Throughout this project, the advisor Ms. Melville took lots of photos as students worked. We used these photos as we reflected on our work throughout the quarter. Students completed weekly journals in which they selected a photo from the week and wrote a reflection on the image. Here are some highlights from students' journals:
- This make me proud because most people say only men can do that or this, but me and my classmate did this work without a problem.
- I'm proud of this work because its something new to my list of things that I've done.
- This shows that I was working hard & was engaged in my work.
- This makes me proud because I really like engineering and this actually helps me learn more about the programs used and helps me for if I want to design something in the future.
- I was really proud of myself because I seen everybody getting their lamps cut and I just went ham, and I learned a lot more.
- The thing that's difficult about this work is that I hate the fact that I need help sometimes.
- This picture shows that the work were doing this quarter is very unique and personal.
